Web Site Hosting
The web host is the company that you select to physically provide the computer server space for your website. They are connected to the internet with a high-speed connection, either with what is known as a T3 line or an OC3 optical line.
When you choose your web host, you are sort of choosing a business partner. They are presenting your business to the world.
All hosts have fast servers, secure server capability (needed to accept credit cards), FTP access, web-based administration, free e-mail accounts, power backup, data backup, a cgi-bin, and technical support. If one that you're considering doesn't have all of this, look elsewhere.
Avoid free web hosting
The free services will bombard your visitors with unwanted banner ads. You will be perceived as small-time since the free-hosting service's name will be part of your site name. and the fact is, they'll probably go out of business, leaving your site dead.
If your web host doesn't back up their servers properly, if their tech support isn't reachable, or if their servers go down often, it will mess up your business. Don't learn this lesson the hard way.
